When I worked at Amazon, I saw cell phones and cell phone plans flying past in high volume. I decided I could try Amazon Wireless to see if I could save some money on cell phone plans. With my parents leaving the country, so very soon my sister and I will need a new plan and I'm shopping for the best cell phone plan deals.

Here I review Amazon Wireless and share my experiences with you.

What Is Amazon Wireless?

Amazon Wireless has:

  • low prices on phones
  • no-contract phones
  • service plans
  • big rebates
  • comparison shopping
  • free two-day shipping on all phones

Right now, Amazon Wireless has 3 providers: Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T. Sprint is going to be jumping on board soon (or so I've read).

Amazon Wireless Review - The Good

First, Amazon Wireless offers low prices and good explanations comparing cell phone plans. I recommend using Amazon Wireless just to compare phones and plans even if you don't end up purchasing there. Compared to the Verizon store, the shopping experience on Amazon Wireless was helpful and easy.

My sister and I are considering smartphones, but the data plans are expensive. Amazon Wireless has a central place to manage my plan, similar to Verizon, and again, a bit more helpful and easier to use.

Amazon Wireless Review - The Bad
  • Some of the newest phones will take several days to fulfill, because they're on backorder.
  • Conufusing rebate terms make some rebates difficult to redeem. Beware fine print, but if you don't get what you want, you can return it.

Amazon Wireless Review - The Pretty

Right now, Amazon Wireless offers ~200 phones. More models are being added every day. The newest smartphones are there, and some older phones that aren't available from Verizon or AT&T are available too, which is nice for people who know and love an old model phone, and simply want a cheaper, better plan.

You can comparison shop by price range, features, carriers, or brands.

Like the Amazon.com home site, Amazon Wireless suggests products, and offers lists, reviews, detailed specs and videos of product features.

The neatest thing about Amazon Wireless is the streamlined signup process.

    Amazon Wireless Review: Final Thoughts

The best part about Amazon Wireless is how easy it is to shop and compare. Whether you're adding a line, shopping for a cheaper plan, or upgrading to a Droid or iPhone or Blackberry - you'll find it easily at Amazon Wireless. I highly recommend it!
